PRP Troubleshooting
- Blanket Fix
Get a new disposable!
Almost all issues can be avoided by taking the few extra steps listed below.
- Syringe
Before connecting the syringe, pull back the plunger and push it back it. This will make it more welcoming to receive the small PRP yield.
- Air In The Whole Blood Reservoir
Injecting the whole blood into the reservoir bag can trap unwanted air. This can prevent the machine from processing everything that's been collected, because once it detects air in the line it will stop.
After all the blood is injected, use the syringe to aspirate what air you can out of the bag. Sometimes that include pushing on the bag with your hand to direct the air back up so that syringe can extract it. - If you're using the same disposable for both PRP and BMAC, make sure to end the case between cycles. If the machine suspects a cycle has already been used it wont allow you to continue. If there's anything in the disposable obscuring the sensor, you can use the syringe to force air back and forth to clear the tube.
